The townspeople avoid eye contact and communicate only through hand signs and strange symbols etched across buildings, trees, and even clothing. As Sara begins to investigate, she discovers that the town has a long and painful history. Stillwater was once a place filled with voices, until a violent betrayal led to an unspoken agreement to abandon speech for the sake of peace. This silence has become law, enforced by fear and tradition. Sara meets James, a reserved local who introduces her to a secret group that protects the silent order. But the more she learns, the more she questions everything.
