Sinopsis

Maharaja Lawak Mega is a reality serial program produced by Astro with the concept of an annual league event of comedy artists and comedians born in Malaysia, as well as the participation of comedians from Indonesia and Singapore to show and highlight comedy talent on the international mega stage located in Malaysia. Dato' AC Mizal as the iconic & permanent figure of the Maharaja Lawak Mega alongside 4 judges from different backgrounds.

For the first time, famous comedians from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia who have made a name for themselves in the art field join together on stage as participants in Maharaja Lawak Mega. The combination of veteran comedians and contemporary comedians makes this program the best platform in producing new, fresh and innovative performances and comedy works. For the 2011 edition, comedians who have participated in comedy competitions are not allowed to compete in Maharaja Lawak Mega 2011 as an appreciation and to give existing comedians a chance to reinvent themselves in the industry. A total of 17 participants representing their respective countries, namely 12 comedians from Malaysia, 3 comedians from Indonesia and 2 comedians from Singapore participated in Maharaja Lawak Mega.

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2012

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2012 is a reality program produced by Astro that combines almost all the famous comedians from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia who have forged a name in this field of art where each has an impressive background in the field of art. After crowning the Osbon group as champions last season, it was the turn of Maharaja Lawak Mega 2012 to crown another champion from the 11 groups of comedians who will compete including a 'Hot Seat' participant who won the MLM Hot Seat 2012. They will be judged by 4 permanent judges who all consist of from celebrities who are not comedians or comedy actors to evaluate the participants' performances based on the criteria that have been set. Broadcast live from MBSA Auditorium Hall, Shah Alam, Selangor starting on 16 November 2012 on Astro Warna channel (channel 132) and Astro Mustika HD (channel 134).

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2013

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2013 themed "Wabak Ubatnya Lawak", a reality serial program produced by Astro that combines the participation of the best comedians and professional comedy actors from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia to crown another versatile comedian who succeeded in creating the best stage comedy, comparable to Osbon and Jozan. Participant participation is open to all existing or established comedians with no exception to participation. A total of 12 'Hot Seat' comedian groups will perform in the Maharaja Lawak Mega Hot Seat 2013 which took place on 08 November 2013 to get a place with 14 other 'fast lane' comedian groups to perform on the Maharaja Lawak Mega 2013 stage. Broadcast live from MBSA Auditorium Hall, Shah Alam, Selangor starting on 15 November 2013 - 07 February 2014 on Astro Warna channel (channel 132) and Astro Mustika HD (channel 134).

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2014

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2014 is themed "Superhero Lawak", a reality serial program produced by Astro that combines the participation of the best professional comedians and comedy actors from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Participant participation is open to all existing or established comedians with no exception to participation. A total of 16 'Hot Seat' comedian groups will perform in the Maharaja Lawak Mega 2014 Hot Seat which takes place on 32 October 2014 to get a place with 10 other 'fast lane' comedian groups to perform on the Maharaja Lawak Mega 2014 stage.

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2016

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2016 is back featuring 15 groups of comedians, known as "Agents" who will lead the Malaysian comedy stage to claim the title of the new Maharaja Lawak Mega champion. Dato' AC Mizal who is the emcee of Maharaja Lawak Mega still bears the responsibility as host for this season. Astro's much-loved serial reality show started airing on Astro Warna (Channel 132) and Astro Mustika HD (Channel 134) from 29 January 2016 - 29 April 2016, every Friday at 10pm.

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2017

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2017 has returned again with the theme "Empire of Lawak" and features 15 joke pirates from 3 countries namely Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia to find another new champion comparable to the previous champions namely Osbon (2011), Jozan (2012), Sepahtu (2013), Zero (2014) and Bocey (2016). In this edition, two former champions namely Zero and Bocey also competed again on the MLM 2017 stage. Starting 17 February 2017, every Friday on Astro Warna (132) and Astro Mustika HD (134) channels.

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2018 is back featuring 14 contestants consisting of 12 groups (duos & trios) and 2 solo comedians. This year, the theme "Circus" was chosen as a montage selection. Astro's favorite serial reality show started airing on Astro Warna (Channel 132) and Astro Warna HD (Channel 124) from 2 November 2018 - 18 January 2019, every Friday at 10:00 pm. A surprise for the audience that starting on November 23, 2018, this show will start at 9:00 pm.

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2019 is back featuring 14 Participants (2 Solo Participants, 3 Duo Groups, 9 Trio Groups). This year, the theme was adapted from the international drama Stranger Things as a montage selection. This reality show was first shown on Astro Warna channel (Channel 127), Astro Warna HD (Channel 107) formerly Astro Warna channel (Channel 132), Astro Warna HD (Channel 124). Show time starts November 1, 2019, every Friday at 9:00 pm.

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2021

Maharaja Lawak Mega 2021 themed Aura Haru, Lawak Terpadu will be broadcast on October 15, 2021 on Astro Warna HD (Channel 107) after a year off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic that is currently sweeping the world. This season, there is no involvement of comedians from other countries (Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore) as a measure to comply with the SOP set by the government.
