Ya Ning once studied in the Department of Clinical Medicine of Beijing Medical University (now Peking University Health Science Center), and was selected and hired by Beijing TV Station as a part-time editor and program host of the health related column. After entering CCTV, he once hosted the Spring... Festival Gala of CCTV in 1997 and 1998.
