Jaime Osorio Márquez
Jaime Osorio Márquez (Cali, October 30, 1975-December 23, 2021) was a Colombian film producer, screenwriter, filmmaker and director. Jaime Osorio Márquez was born in Cali in 1975. Between 1995 and 1999, he studied Deug, the Licence and La Maitrisse en Arts du Spectacle Mention Études Cinématographiques at the Université de Rennes... II, in France. In 2000 he returned to Colombia, becoming director of commercials for companies such as Teleset (owned by Sony Pictures Television International), República Films, Los Sopranos in Venezuela and for Rhayuela Films. He directed important advertising campaigns for clients such as Avianca, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Yoplait, Alpina, McDonalds, Nestlé and Newell Sanford, as well as being a winner at the Nova and Caribbean festivals. In Colombia he was recognized for his way of imprinting tension and drama to the image. In 2011, he released his feature debut as director and screenwriter, El páramo, produced by Rhayuela Cine in co-production with Alta Films (Spain) and Sudestada (Argentina), and also with Wild Bunch as international sales agent, a company that bought the rights to the film when it was in the first week of shooting and managed to take it to multiple territories, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Turkey, Thailand and Taiwan. In 2011 he directed for Caracol Televisión the series El laberinto, in co-production with Sony Televisión. Between 2013 and 2017 he wrote the feature film Mostro (also called Asilo) and the first season of the television series Mil colmillos. He passed away on December 23, 2021, at the age of 46, when he was euthanized after suffering from cancer for several years.
